- If you set up neither a direct deposit for your salary or pension nor direct debits for three monthly or bimonthly bills, you earn 0.05% APR1 and annual NIR on any amount.
The interest is paid into your Openbank Savings Account each month.

What is the Openbank Savings Account?
This is a savings account with no costs or fees, where you receive the interest earned on your savings each month. It is linked to your Open Current Account or Open Payroll Account.
You can withdraw all or some of your money, together with the interest you have earned, by transferring it to your Open Current Account or Open Payroll Account at any time – fee-free! Check out all the information here.
Can you carry out other banking transactions with your Openbank Savings Account?
The Openbank Savings Account is exclusively a savings account. If you want to arrange for your salary or pension to be paid in directly, set up direct debits for your bills, have cards or withdraw cash from ATMs, check out the Open Payroll Account or the Open Current Account.

What interest do you earn?
- Over the first 12 months, just for opening an account, you will earn interest at 2.27 % APR1 and 2.25% annual NIR.
- After the first twelve (12) months, your Welcome Savings Account will be automatically converted into an Openbank Savings Account and the nominal interest rates in force at any time will be applied
Are there any fees?
Maintenance and administration of your Openbank Savings Account are free of charge and there is no minimum contract. Plus, you can withdraw your money and interest whenever you want free of charge.

How can you deposit money into your Openbank Savings Account?
Make transfers from your fee-free Open Current Account or your fee-free Open Payroll Account. Or deposit a cheque or cash at any Banco Santander Spain branch. If you have an account in another bank, you can also set up a transfer from that bank to your Openbank Savings Account.

How can you withdraw your money?
All you have to do is transfer it from your Openbank Savings Account to your Open Current Account or Open Payroll Account and you will be able to withdraw it at no cost with your associated card from any Banco Santander branch or ATM in Spain.

- If the above conditions are not met: at 0.05% annual NIR (0.05% APR) the annual gross interest would be €5.
There is no maximum amount for earning interest in the Openbank Savings Account.
